Can we have a campfire?
Yes, campfires are allowed with the purchase of a fire permit, which is £6.50 per day.
If you buy logs from us, we include the fire permit in the £15.50 price.
See the Prices section of the About Camping page for a full price list.
Can we burn the deadwood in the woodland for our fire?
No. Protecting the deadwood is a key ecology project that puts nutrients back into the soil and creates habitat for fungi and insects, which in turn provide food for birds and woodland mammals. Wood for fires must either be brought in (dried logs only please) or purchased from us.
Can I pay for fire permits and wood when I arrive?
Yes, you can buy fire permits and dry logs on site. We have a card machine too for contactless debit and credit card payments.
Can I (or do I need to) bring my own fire pit?
Every pitch has a fire pit available, so there’s no need to bring your own. If you want to use your own kit, that’s fine so long as there’s sufficient (15cm) air clearance under the pit.
In either case you’ll still need to a fire permit (£6.50 per day).
Are BBQs allowed?
Yes BBQs are allowed, please follow the same safety precautions as you would for a campfire.
Whilst not ideal for safety reasons, we do allow disposable BBQs so long as they are off the ground – we can provide a suitable stand for them to be placed on. You will need a fire permit to have a BBQ (if you’re buying a fire permit to have a campfire, you don’t need a second permit).
Instead, why not try cooking on the fire?
